The Role
This is a full-time, on-site role in Stockholm. As a Flight Test Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing internal flight tests and external demonstrations for all UAS platforms developed by Nordic Air Defence. If you enjoy field work, flying aircraft, or developing dependable & rugged platforms, we would love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
Test Planning — develop flight test plans, checklists, or test cards for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). Work with engineering stakeholders to specify test campaigns, operating limits and emergency procedures
Flight Testing — conduct flight tests for UAS. Operate Ground Control Stations (GCS), and Data Acquisition Systems (DAQ) during flight tests to collect real-time performance data and evaluate system reliability across flight conditions and VTOL/forward flight profiles
Test Infrastructure — build robust testing infrastructure for operating flights and demonstrations in the toughest conditions on the planet - from the desert to the Arctic
Vehicle Bring-up and Repair — develop and implement processes for vehicle pre-flight and post-flight inspections, modifications, or repair
Data Analysis — discover insights into our system and capabilities by building tools to analyze flight data
The Ideal Candidate
Systems Knowledge — proven understanding of UAS sub-systems and aerospace engineering principles, applied to designing, building and evaluating flying vehicles
Organization — ability to plan, execute, and close out complex technical programs with structured attention to detail, from high-level objectives and scheduling down to day-to-day logistics and documentation
Airman-ship — demonstrated use of good judgement, skill & knowledge operating aircraft
Multidisciplinary — comfortable working across the full stack of engineering practice, from hands-on hardware and physical build work to software tooling, scripting, and command-line environments
Independent & Collaborative — self-driven and proactive in identifying and resolving problems with minimal oversight, while bringing the situational awareness, empathy, and clear communication required to lead a crew safely and effectively in a flight test environment
Formal Education — Bachelor’s or higher degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field
Flight Test Experience — direct professional flight test experience is a strong advantage, but not a requirement; candidates with hands-on flying backgrounds, student design team experience, or roots in RC and experimental aviation often bring exactly the mindset and instincts we're looking for
